My name is Chavela and I have been an artist all my life. My favorite thing about art is its limitlessness, whether I’m tattooing, painting a mural or using needle and thread the only limits are the ones made in your mind. It’s more than being able to draw something well or replicate an image to a tea; it’s about the passion you have about the world around you, to learn about the world and tell a story with hardly any words or none at all. My artistic journey has been years in the making and as I have changed, so has my work. From drawing with crayons and colored pencils as a child to painting murals, tattooing and working with other mediums as an adult; I have grown into the artist I am today. Going into the future, my dreams are to continue to grow and share my art with the world, working to learn more about the perspectives of others, exchange ideas, culture and wisdom. To move freely with the rhythm of people and nature to connect us all with the universal language that is art.
