Event Details

Celebrate Luiseño stories that inspired the “Kiicha Nights, Coyote Dreams” mural at the Mission Branch Library, with a special reader’s theater interactive performance, music and bookmark coloring activity, presented by Eliane Weidauer, Mel Vernon, Linda Kallas, and Steve Harvey. “Kiicha Nights, Coyote Dreams” community mural at the Mission Branch Library was created by muralist Gibran Lopez, with community input, and inspired by stories and memories from the indigenous community of Oceanside. In spring 2023, a series of workshops was held highlighting traditional Luiseño stories, and teaching artists from Floating Hearts Connections worked with the Oceanside community to visually represent the stories. These visual representations informed the final piece created by muralist Gibran Isaias Lopez. All are invited to join us for the "Balance of Nature- All things are connected" reader’s theater performance celebrating Luiseño heritage.
