Come get creative and build your own marmota. All supplies provided!
Typically seen at Oaxacan calendas and fiestas, marmarmotas are cloth-covered, wooden- framed globes decorated with colorful tissue paper and a banner announcing the name of a town or last name, that are carried and twirled around during a procession through a town or at the start of a party.
While marmotas are usually big and can get pretty heavy, the one's we'll be making during this workshop will be small enough for children to hold.
